Laid-Back Camp is an iyashikei seinen series that’s perfect for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds.
Laid-Back Camp is an overlooked seinen manga/anime series that’s perfect for fans of the easygoing iyashikei subgenre. Iyashikei anime tend to have minimal conflict and drama, and instead soothe the viewer with pleasant episodic plots and charming characters. Many of these titles fit the “cute girls doing cute things” trend as well, including Laid-Back Camp.
Overall, Laid-Back Camp puts more emphasis on its unique premise than any particular plot, with protagonist Nadeshiko and her friends simply wandering from one campsite to another and learning a lot about camping along the way. Anyone looking for some easy anime viewing can try out the Laid-Back Camp anime and manga, both of which are widely available.

Laid-Back Camp has a straightforward and episodic plot, following protagonist Nadeshiko and her classmates and friends as they explore Japan’s countryside, one rustic campsite at a time. This gives Nadeshiko and her pals a minor character arc revolving around their increasing experience and expertise with camping, and they challenge themselves in new and creative ways in the great outdoors. They can also rely on their friend, the veteran solo camper Shima Rin, who knows a bit of everything about camping.
This is an “edutainment” anime that puts more emphasis on the joy of learning than the actual plot and characters, although many anime fans will find plenty to like about Nadeshiko and her friends, and they get minor but appreciable character arcs along the way. The characters have no particular end goal in mind — they simply let their camping hobby lead the way, and there’s always something new to explore out there. This gives Laid-Back Camp the potential to continue for quite some time, as Japan has no shortage of fascinating natural features to explore and campsites for Nadeshiko and the others to visit.
